Melissa
Moderate to Severe Crohn’s Disease Patient

Melissa:
Remission was brought up to me relatively early on in my treatment course—the idea of having less pain, having to run to the restroom less often, my symptoms more controlled.

On Screen:

Mark
Moderate to Severe Crohn’s Disease Patient

To have them as managed as possible, to where I don’t have to worry about being in pain or being uncomfortable—that was the goal.

Interviewer (from off screen):
Now that symptoms don’t dominate your life, what’s changed for you?

Sarah:
So once I was able to be a good sister, a good daughter, a good friend—that’s when I knew my UC symptoms were under control.

On Screen:

Maria
Moderate to Severe Ulcerative Colitis Patient

Having my symptoms under control meant I didn’t have to worry about where the nearest restroom was whenever I went out.

On Screen:

Amie
Moderate to Severe Ulcerative Colitis Patient

Amie:
Because I am in remission, I do want to give back to the Crohn’s and colitis community. I am involved in support groups, events, walks.

Melissa:
Remission has allowed me to focus on living in the moment.

On Screen:

Celeste
Moderate to Severe Crohn’s Disease Patient

Celeste:
Now that I’m in remission, I realize how much time I lost. Now, remission means to me that I can make the memories that I want to make—the lasting memories for my family.

Sarah:
HUMIRA was helping me control my symptoms. Not having to go two to three times a day. Being able to actually say “yes” to activities instead of having to pass on things because of the possibility of having a bathroom issue.

Interviewer (from off screen):
What are you and your doctor’s treatment goals now?

Celeste:
My doctor and I have a new plan: not missing any of my medication, not missing any of my appointments, making sure I do what I need to do to stay in remission.

Mark:
Now staying in remission is the goal I continue to strive for every day.
