We’ve Been There

On Screen:

Bill
Moderate to Severe Ulcerative Colitis (UC) Patient

Bill:
I tried everything. I tried 5-ASAs, I’ve tried immunomodulators, and, you know, the big one was the steroids and my symptoms were repetitive for a while—and then they started getting worse.

On Screen:

Amie
Moderate to Severe Ulcerative Colitis Patient

Amie:
I did experience accidents, which were very uncomfortable. I actually was on steroids and another oral medication, but my ulcerative colitis symptoms kept getting in the way.

On Screen:

Sarah
Moderate to Severe Ulcerative Colitis Patient

Sarah:
It was something where it just continued to get worse and my body didn’t respond to a lot of medications or responded really poorly to medications. And so it was really frustrating.

Interviewer (from off screen):
What was going through your mind when you felt like your UC symptoms weren’t under control?

On Screen:

Jim
Moderate to Severe Ulcerative Colitis Patient

Jim:
I definitely didn’t feel like I had control of my symptoms. I was trying to manage them, I was trying to manage how I lived, but it was just day after day of that hopeless feeling of not getting any better.

Sarah:
I was seeing my doctor every other week. I was still in so much pain and I wasn’t responding to anything. Like I was basically knocking on their office door being like, “You have to give me something else.”

Amie:
I didn’t want to live like that anymore. So, at that moment, I knew that it was time for a change.
