Psoriatic arthritis, or PsA, is a condition that will be with you for the rest of your life, interrupting the harmony and balance in your immune system.

When your immune system is overactive, it can contribute to inflammation in your body, creating symptoms like joint pain, swelling, and stiffness throughout your body in areas like your feet, knees, and hands, and red, flaky patches on your skin called plaques.

The ongoing pain and stiffness that you feel in your joints may be a sign that they’re eroding

If left untreated, the irreversible joint damage can continue to worsen over time. So, in order to preserve joint function, stop further joint damage and clear your skin, it is important to talk to your rheumatologist when symptoms appear.

No one knows exactly what causes PsA, but we do know that several proteins produced in your body are involved.

One of these proteins is called TNF-alpha.

Normally, TNF-alpha helps regulate immune activity and the amount of inflammation in your body.

But when your body produces too much TNF-alpha, it contributes to excess inflammation seen in your joints and skin and may contribute to some of the symptoms of PsA.

And while you can see the swollen joints and plaques and feel joint pain, even when you have no symptoms, excess inflammation may still be present on a microscopic level in your body.

HUMIRA is a prescription medicine known as a TNF-alpha blocker.

When used as recommended, HUMIRA targets and blocks TNF-alpha in your body which plays an important role in the inflammation, permanent joint damage, and skin symptoms associated with psoriatic arthritis.

In clinical studies, HUMIRA has been proven to help stop further irreversible joint damage, clear skin, and reduce the signs and symptoms of PsA.

Help stop further irreversible joint damage and clear your skin by talking to your rheumatologist.
