In the same study, the combination of HUMIRA and methotrexate, on average, was 5 times more effective at slowing the progression of joint damage than methotrexate alone after 2 years.

With real-world evidence for over 15 years, HUMIRA targets and blocks a source of inflammation that contributes to joint pain and irreversible damage.

HUMIRA has been studied in both early and established moderate to severe RA.

Over 1.1 million people are currently being treated with HUMIRA worldwide across all approved indications.*
*As of December 2017
In a study of moderate to severe RA patients diagnosed for an average of 11 years who added HUMIRA to methotrexate:
63% of people who took HUMIRA with methotrexate saw improvement in RA signs and symptoms (compared to 30% of people taking methotrexate alone).
When compared with methotrexate alone in a clinical study, more people taking HUMIRA and methotrexate saw a 20% improvement in the signs and symptoms of RA at 6 months.
In a separate study of patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (diagnosed for less than three years and not previously treated with methotrexate), combining HUMIRA and methotrexate showed:
64% of people taking HUMIRA with methotrexate had no further joint damage as seen on X-ray 1 year after treatment (compared to 37% of people taking methotrexate alone).
In the same study, the combination of HUMIRA and methotrexate, on average, was 5 times more effective at slowing the progression of joint damage than methotrexate alone after 2 years.
Once joint damage occurs, it can’t be undone.
That’s why it’s important to get an expert opinion. Discussing details with your rheumatologist about how RA affects your daily life will help you and your doctor decide on a course of action.
