HUMIRA®: A Biologic Medication to Treat Crohn's Disease

HUMIRA Is a Different Kind of Treatment for Crohn's Disease

HUMIRA is part of an advanced group of medications called biologics. "Biologic" means that the medication is made from living organisms and their products, such as proteins, genes, and antibodies. Biologic medications are one type of treatment used in the treatment of moderate to severe Crohn's disease.

Crohn's disease is a long-term (chronic) condition that causes inflammation in the gastrointestinal (digestive) track. While the exact cause of Crohn's is unknown, we do know that people with Crohn's disease have excess levels of a protein called tumor necrosis factor (TNF). This protein causes inflammation and swelling in the gastrointestinal tract. HUMIRA blocks TNF, helping to reduce or stop Crohn's symptoms. HUMIRA is approved for use to reduce the signs and symptoms of moderate to severe Crohn’s disease in adults who have not responded well to conventional treatments. HUMIRA is also approved for these adults who have lost response or are unable to tolerate infliximab.

HUMIRA is not right for everyone. Talk to your doctor about HUMIRA today to see if it may be right for you.
